Kate Durrant - Artistic Director
Originally from Cambridgeshire, Kate went to train at London Studio Centre, gaining a BA Hons in Theatre Dance. During her time there she was a member of Intoto Dance Company, working with choreographers such as Rafael Bonachela, Jonzi D, Vivienne Newport and Michael Popper.
Through her performance career Kate has worked with the Royal Opera House, Foot In Hand Dance Company, Ruff Cut Dance Theatre, Turbulance Dance Company, Base Dance Company, Sol Dans Company and Helix Dance.
Kate has taught extensively throughout her career, working with schools, youth groups and vocational schools. She is currently a member of the faculty on the DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training, Ipswich, where she has worked as Rehearsal Director to Joss Arnott, Tim Casson, Sarah Dowling, Yael Flexer, Michaela Meazza, Alexander Whitely and Re:bourne. She was the Contemporary Tutor for the BTEC and Diploma programmes for Bodywork Company, Cambridge.
Kate has choreographed pieces for Bodywork Company, Chrysalis London, DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training, Shift West for DanceDigital, Move IT!, as well as corporate events and charities.
Katie Webster - Guest Artist
Katie trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating in 2011 with a First Class BA Hons degree. She then went on to join EDge performance company, based at London Contemporary Dance School, working with choreographers such as Tony Adigan, Matthias Sperling and James Wilton.
During her freelance performance career Katie has enjoyed working with companies and artists such as Avant Garde Dance, Southpaw Dance Company, The Generating Company and Cirque Bijou. Katie also collaborates in her own dance theatre company, Crimson & The Rovers, which has created commissions and taught their blend of breaking and contemporary across the UK.
Alongside her performance work Katie has taught extensively across the UK and Europe, encountering students of all abilities and backgrounds. She has a keen interest in teaching floorwork and is influenced by elements of capoeria and breaking, which bring a grounding and strong physicality into her classes.
Orris Gordon - Guest Artist
Orris began performing at 14 under the direction of artists Amy Holly, Kenneth Tharp and Lorena Randi. His excitement and passion for dance enabled him to perform regionally and inevitably to study for a year at London Contemporary Dance School in 2004. He continued to excel in performance, once he left, working with Cambridge Contemporary Dance Company while studying at Homerton, Cambridge University, which would later underpin his educational practices.
Returning to Impington Village College in 2007, Orris took a part time role as Artist in Residence after delivering a number of engaging workshops. He then went on to join the faculty teaching the CSVPA/RADA foundation course in 2009 whilst studying at Bedfordshire University. After which he performed for a number of artists including Helen Parlor (Motionhouse), Annie Lok, Corrine Bougaard (Union Dance),Tempered Body Dance Theatre, Tamsin Fitzgerald (2Faced Dance),Christopher Marney (Mathew Bourne) and leading international organisations such as Sadlers Wells, DanceEast and Wales Millennium Centre.
He continues to maintain his professional relationships with Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts and Bodywork Company working as a guest teacher. Most recently he has completed his teacher training, deepening his teaching practice and love for dance. He is currently Assistant Director of Performance at Impington Village College.
