Summer School 2019

Join Cambridge Youth Dance Company for their Creative and Contemporary Dance Summer School at the Storey's Filed Community Centre in Eddington, Cambridge. This 2 day intensive is open to all young people aged 13-18 years. No previous dance experience in necessary. All levels of experience are welcome. Participants are welcome to attend either one day or both days of the programme. 

 

Wednesday 28 August: Day 1 - Duet Skills Workshop

Day 1 will begin with a contemporary technique class led by CYDC Director, Kate Durrant. After class, the group will begin their workshop with George Frampton, working on developing and discovering their duet skills. This will include some contact work and lifts. In the afternoon, the group will put their new skills into practice by creating their own duets. 

Thursday 29 August: Day 2 - Dance Film Day

Day 2 will begin with a contemporary technique class led by CYDC Director Kate Durrant. After class Kate will lead the group through a creation process to devise their own work. In the afternoon, the group will film their creations with Kate and James Hall.

Training: (From September) Royal Conservatoire Antwerp

 

James has recently completed training with the DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training and National Youth Dance Company.

 

Alongside training in contemporary dance he has made dance films that have been featured at the U.Dance Festival 2017 & 2019 showing at the Birmingham Hippordrome and the British Film Institue. In September he will be continuing his dance training at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp.
